SECOND QUARTER 2025

A new alliance of European experts with a strong commitment to zero-carbon renewable energy, including the ODS ACCIÓ Foundation, has presented a European proposal for a novel, efficient, flexible and resilient hybrid combined heat and power system that will incorporate an advanced twin digital GIS-BIM platform with a sophisticated AI-based intelligent energy management system

This initiative will provide flexible, zero-carbon energy solutions within Renewable Energy Communities that will enable rigorous validation of hybrid system performance, achieving high electrical efficiency, fast response times and high availability.

The project will successfully integrate advanced European fuel cell technologies with state-of-the-art digital control and a powerful Digital Twin platform that will deliver a validated hydrogen solution and improve grid stability, reducing emissions and increasing European competitiveness in the transition to clean energy. These advanced intelligent digital systems provide accurate simulations, operational analysis and virtual testing of AI-based control strategies and enable multi-vector predictive optimization in the cloud. This innovation will ensure a high electrical efficiency of the energy demand of communities.

The growing demand for energy means a change of course in global climate policy. This increase in demand puts at risk the reserves of fossil fuels, energies that pollute the environment and that will be diminishing and that, on the other hand, we need to replace. This demand constitutes a problem of supply of fossil fuels, especially oil, seriously impacting the economies of the developed countries of the planet. The promotion of new efficient energies, such as hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cells, and technological advances will enable a more efficient, cleaner, safer and more stable use of energy for industry and society in general.

The combination of hydrogen and fuel cells will represent a pathway to realizing Europe’s sustainable energy and environmental goals. These new alternative energies are an efficient solution to increase energy security and supply at low cost, reduce emissions of toxic pollutants and mitigate the effects of climate change expected by 2030.
