SECOND QUARTER 2026
The SDG ACCIÓ Foundation has joined ADESCAT as a founding member to promote and accelerate the energy transition and decarbonisation in Catalonia
The main role of the SDG ACCIÓ Foundation within this partnership is to drive innovation activities that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to actively collaborate in fostering synergies and agreements with public and private entities on clean technology projects.
Through this strategic alliance, the ODS ACCIÓ Foundation demonstrates its strong commitment to the climate goals set by the United Nations and the European Green Deal, and its firm dedication to securing public and private funding to support research and development projects that contribute to the implementation of sustainable innovation actions and practices in the field of decarbonisation across the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
Other major challenges facing the ADESCAT Association include coordinating, developing and improving the sector’s competitiveness and technological level, serving as a forum for debate and the exchange of information and knowledge among businesspeople, scientists and public authorities, and to promote training and collaboration with universities, innovation centres and clusters working towards the development of technological solutions to mitigate greenhouse gases, which are responsible for global warming.
These technological innovations will enable a reduction in environmental impact—a key objective for achieving carbon neutrality—and will ensure the replacement of fossil fuels with clean renewable energy sources, alongside a reduction in consumption that will promote a circular economy in production processes and the achievement of a sustainable biotechnological future.
Through this partnership, ADESCAT has established a non-profit association that contributes to three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which align with its founding objectives: SDG 5, (Affordable and Clean Energy), which aims to ensure access, according to the United Nations, “to clean and affordable energy, which is key to the development of agriculture, business, communications, education, healthcare and transport” [1]; the second, no less important, is SDG 13 (Climate Action), a goal that seeks to “achieve net-zero emissions” [2] – a major challenge in reducing global warming and preventing the endangerment of our ecosystem’s food and water supplies; and thirdly, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) [3] which states that “The Sustainable Development Goals can only be achieved through strong global partnerships and cooperation to ensure that no one is left behind on our path to development”, a fundamental purpose that drives this association of experts to promote inter-company cooperation and business collaboration for technological innovation and the development of sustainable practices that contribute to clean technologies and decarbonisation.
